Season two returns with episode seven, in which your faithful heroes debate two new films centered around the holidays. Duncan comes strong with the buzz-worthy Tangerine, while Bo goes old school with the Jodie Foster-directed Home for the Holidays! Can Bo’s pick overcome Duncan’s distaste for Holly Hunter (?!) or will an indie film about transsexuals in Los Angeles take the day? This, plus the gorgeous fountain of Higgledy-Piggledy, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Knock Knock are discussed.

Welcome to episode six of season two, an episode where your faithful hosts get criminal! With Duncan in the lead by a single film, Bo has to get European with the ponderous and deceptively simple Stranger by the Lake. Meanwhile, Duncan goes American with the recent 2015 thriller, The Gift. Can this reversal of roles secure Duncan’s lead or will Bo tie things up? These questions answered, plus Bo’s DJ name and lots and lots of penis.

It’s that time of the year… the leaves are turning, there’s a chill to the air, and Duncan and Bo have returned to battle on the fields of horror. With the score tied once more, Duncan gets foreign (naturally) with the Belgian surrealist horror film Calvaire, while Bo goes all American with the tale of a discarded alligator that grows to enormous size in the sewers of Chicago called, naturally, Alligator. Also, we discuss Unfriended and The Visit and pitch a million dollar idea for a Halloween-based eaterie. Put up your dukes, it’s time to fight over who has come most correct!

Join your debating duo Duncan and Bo for the fourth round in Season Two of Duncan and Bo Come Correct. Bo leads 2-1, and this time out the fellas get all mysterious with a pair of modern films that redefine the nature of the classical mystery. Will Bo secure another win with the Steven Soderbergh social commentary/murder mystery Side Effects from 2013, or will Duncan prove that newer is better with his pick, 2014’s Gone Girl from the estimable David Fincher? Be warned of spoilers in this episode as we discuss the ins and outs of what makes a noir film and how these movies subvert those ideas. Let’s get our magnifying glasses and deerstalker hats to puzzle out who has, in fact, come most correct!

What a season, huh? Up and down, a whirlwind of emotions, disappointments and high points. We’re going to talk about it all here. First, we examine the extended-length final episode of True Detective and discuss the resolution of the our characters’ stories, as well as the larger mystery at work. Then, we talk about the season as a whole and address some of the common complaints, both reasonable and otherwise and we grade the season as a whole. One thing remains clear – everyone hates Chad. This is the last entry into our season two detective journal, so come with us one last time!

With the scored tied at one apiece, the pugilists of projections turn their sights to the topic of war. Duncan digs deep for an excellent and complex film called Ulzana’s Raid, set in the American Old West where a veteran tracker played by Burt Lancaster squares off against savage Apaches, but who’s the real villain of this film? Determined to take home season two with authority, Bo adds a touch of Kubrick with the Cold War satire, Dr. Strangelove; or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, featuring the remarkable Peter Sellers in three distinct roles. The lines are drawn and the weapons are chosen. FIGHT!!!

Only two episodes left! This time around, we talk swanky parties, the range of emotions you see on Colin Farrell’s face, the typical Tuesday night for Bo, Duncan’s knife-based glee, Puddin’ Pop ignorance, more Twin Peaks-ish influences and the sinister nature of Chad. What’s going on with that folder? Is Paul actually doing something? Where do we go from here? This feels like the the turn into the final stretch, so let’s get those crackpot theories front-and-center, True Detectives!

After the disappointing fourth episode, Duncan and Bo steel themselves for the next outing. Finding ourselves flung two months into the future, we discuss the ways that the lives of the main characters have changed, the state of the ongoing investigation, Paul’s home life, alcohol slang, Colin Ferrell acting the hell out of a scene, and the benefits of the emotional cliffhanger. Is True Detective back to form, or is this yet another tease in a slough toward mediocrity? All this and more on this episode!
